In Queensland, anyone carrying out construction work must hold a current General construction induction training card (commonly referred to as a White Card). This card is issued upon successful completion of the unit CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry.

This nationally recognised course provides individuals with the essential skills and knowledge to work safely on construction sites. It covers:

  • Identifying and reporting common construction hazards
  • Understanding basic risk control measures
  • Responding to potential incidents and emergencies
  • Correctly selecting and fitting personal protective equipment (PPE)

Participants will develop an understanding of their health and safety responsibilities under WHS legislation and how to contribute to a safer working environment.

Assessment includes both practical and oral components, in line with Workplace Health and Safety Queensland (WHSQ) requirements. Students must demonstrate their ability to communicate WHS information verbally to complete the course. The training and assessment align with Part 6.5 of the Model Work Health and Safety Regulations, which outlines the mandatory requirements for general construction induction training.

This training supports general WHS awareness and does not replace site or task-specific instruction, which must be provided by the employer before commencing work.

This course is approved for delivery in Queensland only.
